As a writer, I think all writers start off excited and believe they have written a masterpiece. All writing seems to be good in its rough draft. But then, in my experience, before I knew it, I’d gradually moved to the twentieth draft. I realize I’m presented with a completely new book. The only thought that comes to me time and again is, when is a draft really a finished manuscript? Does it continue to be edited even after being published… ? I mean, I have seen first editions, and seventh editions of my favorite novels in the market. What did we forget to add that we remembered 20 years later? Does it continue to be edited? I guess, the full-stop is when you decide to give it a full-stop. Even then, a story will forever be a Work-in-Progress. It will be affected by seasonal changes, and dependent on the interpretation and acceptance of the reader. Once a story is written, it will forever be scrutinized. It will be studied and updated, immortally. And in that, it will transform into an ensemble of words, which is a stranger to the writer herself. So, I guess, I just decide, at this moment, is this draft reasonably good to be published? Yes? Okay..
